That's Kinda Gross

Apparently, I've been neglectful.

Last night, hanging out with Jen Jen, I went to retrieve something from the fridge.* When I settled back down in my seat, Jen Jen looked at me and said with her nose crinkled up and her hand waving in front of her face, "Something died in your fridge."

She's right. I've been ignoring the smell. I haven't wanted to tackle the task. But now that I have been exposed, I must quit putting off the inevitable. I can't have this indiscretion mar my somewhat pristine happy homemaker rep.

I wish someone would do it for me though. When it was my birthday growing up as a kid, I didn't have to do any chores on my day. I didn't have to make my bed. I got to eat pancakes for breakfast with the syrup heated up in a special little pitcher. I could have any dinner I wanted (usually mashed potatoes and swiss steak). Everyone had to be nice to me and there would be Gramma Cake** and presents and flowers from my dad. I was Queen for the Day. Why can't I be 10 again?

Maybe if I hold out until the 18th someone will come along and clean our fridge.

*Why yes, that is a ginormous container of Cool Whip in my fridge.
**Gramma Cake will be explained in a forthcoming post.

Your fridge doesn't look disgusting.

It is pretty funny that you've got that Costco size drum of Cool Whip in your fridge, though.

Good luck with the de-stinking!

OMG I do the same thing..ignore it until my hubby can't stand it and he cleans it out! He's like can you smell that?? Umm...no. ;)

I have to say, that is one thing that husbands (or men in general) are good for. Could you make your roommate do it? As part of his birthday gift to you maybe?

I think it's worth a shot.

Ick. I hear you - two weeks after Jurgen left my pad I couldn't get a smell out of the fridge - too bad it was her TWO-WEEK OLD MEXICAN FOOD LEFT IN A HIDDEN TRASH CAN THAT I DON'T USE . . .

crickets.

Something totally died in my fridge and I've been so lazy. And instead of eating the leftovers I keep making more food to shove in there. I don't mind dusting, laundry, mopping, but I HATE cleaning the fridge. I'll send you happy cleaning fridge vibes and perhaps we can both get this horrible task done! Good luck. Jane

Mmm...Cool Whip. Sizz, I came away from this post not thinking that you were a bad housekeeper, but that I really want all the food you listed!

Luckily I solve this problem by not having food in my fridge... I do however have any mixer you could possibly imagine...

Although occasionally I do get a wild hair and go to the farmer's market for produce... which inevitably ends up hidden in some drawer and stinkin' in no time.

Yummy.

If you can wait until the 29th I will help you out…

Well, if Katie and I were out there, we'd help you out. We went through my parents' fridge and freezer several years ago while they were on vacation and found stuff that was dated as long before as five years. Kinda nasty. We had two garbage bags full when we were done.

I only WISH that Cool Whip was in my fridge. It just goes so great with everything... like apples and orages and spoons. :)

Could you open up that tub of Cool Whip and pour that chocolate sauce all over it? That sounds really good and I'm not even pmsing!

I love Cool Whip. It's very hard to make out other items in there, but I do spy chocolate sauce. I'm guessing that's either a Maytag or Whirpool fridge.

At least your fridge has... oh, I don't know, food in it. Mine has special beauty products that need to be climate controlled, some mustard, and a brita pitcher.

yish.

Now I'm craving Cool whip.

I do sympathize though. I am in fact going to stop procrastinating and clean out my shower drain now.

Yup... any time now...

good luck with the fridge!

I am in charge of organizing and cleaning the fridge. Not because I want to be - just because no one else will do it.

That vat of Cool Whip looks delicious. Wish you much fun in your fridge cleaning chore.

I once had a fridge in Uni that didn't work. I finally realized that it wasn't working when all my perishables were perishing (2 months after neglecting it).

A great blog you have here.
