Trying to Answer Life's Big Questions

My sister alerted me to my horoscope for this week. I suppose I have a rebellion to lead:

When a powerful authority acts stupid or when a foggy bureaucracy threatens to paralyze progress, take matters into your own hands. Ignore the mediocrity at the top as you mobilize everyone else to do what's right.
My subsequent thought process went something like this: Huh. Really? Do I have to?! But why can't someone else do it? Alright, alright. I'll do it. Fine! I guess I sort of knew that was coming. . .

And in our staff meeting today, our check in question was:

"In your life, have you ever felt aligned in mind, body, and spirit?"

My answer was: No.

Then, while I was chatting with my friend Lushy and she asked me the Oprah question:

"What would you do if you knew you couldn't fail? What does your perfect life look like?"

All I know, in this moment, is that my perfect life doesn't look at all like the one I am currently living.

How is that for a kick in the proverbial ass? (Or is it a proverbial kick in the ass? Hmm.)

So in an effort to not be alone in this quest for the answer to one of life's big questions, please enlighten me. What would YOU do if you knew you COULD NOT fail? Your bravery will inspire mine.

I would quit my job and open a little boutique filled with up-and-coming designers' clothing lines, fun makeup and hip stuff for the home. Now, that would be cool. :)

I would open up a gallery that showcases local art student's pieces. Oh, and there would be an attached coffee house, 'cause I am kick ass with the cappuccino machine!

I'm not by any means living my perfect life but I'm doing things that are making me happy. I quit a job I hated and went back to school. I don't think I would want to be living my perfect life. If so, I wouldn't have anything to work for and hope for. Feeling like something is missing isn't such a bad thing.

btw, I think it's the proverbial kick in the proverbial ass ;-)

I would open a small cafe/bakery with a small gourmet section. Next door, I would open a bar/laundromat. Next door to that, I would open a chi-chi pet store where all natural pet treats and foods could be purchased in addition to sassy leashes, beds and collars.

After all of that, I would be a therapist (what I am back in school studying to be).

My standard domestic bliss route would be:

I would open a small (10 rooms or less) bed and breakfast that was pure charm and excellent service that hosted nightly dinners. No menus or major choices, just a 4 course meal with paired wines. Attached to it would be a bookshop that carried classics and only the best of the currents. Added to the place would be a small display area and shop for my jewelry. I'd keep the staff at under 5 and do the nightly meal myself. And there would be muffins and scones and fruit every morning.

The glam route would be:

Purchasing specialist for a major art/antique speciality house.

My perfect life would involve travel, and food and wine, and art... so I would probably be a taster of some sort. A fabulously happy and contented art-seeing, breathtaking view appreciating, loving every moment taster

I agree that it's a proverbial kick in the proverbial ass. :)

I love the bar/laundromat idea. We need one of those here! :)

If I knew I couldn't fail, I'd have G.W. removed from office. And Dick would be right behind him.

I think I was aligned in mind, body and spirit years ago when I quit a job I hated. Geez, that felt good. And as it turned out, it was probably one of the smartest things I ever did.

If I could not fail, I would move to Hawaii and I would write what I want to write, not what I have to write to pay the current bills. (I'd say move to Costa Rica except I don't like waking up with iguanas.)

Custom make my own vineyard and create my own eclectic wines. Be an on-call archaeologist while studying forensic anthropology which I would in turn use to help Doctors Without Borders recover and identify human remains from mass graves. My house would also be a cat farm, where they would roam free and help with the rat problems.... it would also contain a few other animals mixed in. No llamas, I don't need to be spit upon.

I like Eryn's world. And I too would have a lot of animals - well, cats and dogs. But I'd also have some very well-paid people to clean up the shit and fur.

My cat, Gonzo, has destroyed my world with shit and fur.

Your turn Ms. Sizz, what would you do?

Yeah! Lots of animals, too! Maybe a no-kill animal paradise! Oh! And I would open a kick-ass taco stand at the beach. I like the doggie daycare. That's a good one!

I would also be a travel writer for part of the year and a broadway performer for part of the year, with regular breaks.

Three words... Lottery and Vegas (I know it's really two words)...

Just Kidding, I know what you really meant...

I think that I would be more of a leader if I knew I couldn't fail. I would take on (almost) any challenge that came my way.

And then I would play the lottery and then go to Vegas.
