Work Is Not A Four Letter Word

Um, so you guys? My new job totally rules! Everyone is so welcoming and friendly. The office is all organized and spacious. There is a coffee shop in the building and secure parking. My new boss even bought me lunch! So what if I dropped a crouton doused in salad dressing down the front of my shirt. Without fail every time I wear a white shirt I spill on it. Classy Sizzle strikes again!

I did a lot of paperwork and shook a lot of hands. Today and tomorrow will be a lot of meetings with people to figure out what everyone does. It seems like I won't be very stressed at this job. I just hope my warped brain doesn't translate less stress into boring. Every person I was introduced to said how great it is to work there. That's some sales pitch they have ingrained in them or they actually really and truly like it there. Fantastic!

One minor flaw is that I don't get my real office space/desk until Sept. 12th when the person working at it leaves. I guess she's been bumped around a lot and they just decided it was too much so I get to work in an open bull pen of cubicles until then. Hey, the bright side is it will help me break my on line habit. I'll miss my chat buddies but I have to focus. I want to succeed and impress everyone.

One way not to impress people is to drop your mini-writing tablet that you have been taking notes on all morning into the toilet. At least no one was IN the stall with me to know I did this. I had a stack of all these folders and papers with me that, instead of putting on the floor, I placed precariously on the toilet paper dispenser. When I got up (sorry for the visual everyone), my elbow knocked the pile and the mini-tablet went kerplop into the toilet. Oh yes, after I had peed. That was a major dorkus moment if ever there was one.

I'm glad these first three days are part time. I feel so tired having to pay attention and use my brain and not sit on my ass avoiding basic chores and watch Dawson's Creek and What Not To Wear. And you know what? I love that I am tired. Because I love that I have a job. Thanks for all the well wishes and encouragement. I find it interesting that so many of you were rooting for the foster care place or thought that was more "me." I guess that just further proves that this blog is definitely a reflection of who I really am (or want to be).

Congratulations, again!

Also, I once did the same post-business drop in the commode except it was my cell phone. Nice, eh?

Glad to hear it went so well (aside from the toilet incident). My husband doesn't allow me to buy white clothing any more because it's assured that I will stain it on the first wear. You are so not alone on that. Hope it keeps going so well at work.

White clothes? I stain them.

I'm with you on the fact that it's good you're only working part-time this week.

YOu are so funny! That toilet thing is exactly something I would do. I've even had close calls with my purse but saved it just in time. Glad to hear that the first impression was so good -- that says a lot. Are you pretty close to your office?

I am so excited for you... even if I dont have you to chat at during the day...

I love your stories... making me laugh as I type. I am just thankful I am not alone in spilling and dropping things.

Again... yay you!

Despite minor issues, there's nothing quite as excitng as a new job! hurray!

Well, that's ONE way to learn not to put important things on the toilet paper dispenser.

If I may make a suggestion:

The next time you happen to bring files, paperwork, etcetera into the stall with you, tuck them into the toilet seat cover dispenser! It's a great way to hold your carry-on paper goods while you're taking care of business. And there's a greatly minimized risk of contamination.

Seriously - Real Simple should hire my ass...

...it could have been worse. you could have dropped your cell phone or ipod or mini pod or mini anything in your urine.

At least you were alone in a stall for your dorkus moment.

*jumping up and down* YIPPEE!!!! I'm sooo happy for ya, gf! I just knew it would happen! (The job, not the toilet).

Oh, and the white shirt thing? It has to be something in the subliminal brain. I ALWAYS spill on a white shirt. Of course, on the boobs. Duh.
