Don't Panic (Just Yet)

I woke up this morning bleeding all over my favorite bird pajama bottoms. Yeah, thanks Aunt Flow. You've got impeccable timing. Ugh. (I know, TMI. Sorry 'bout that.)

I know I need to keep my spirits up but honestly, I feel pretty stressed out. I don't want to border on desperation. I want to go to that Zen place and trust it will all work out ok. But after driving by a couple of the apartment buildings I have appointments with today, I am not as excited. Some of them were just TOO urban. It's going to be a big adjustment- living in an apartment in a city setting. I want to find something that isn't going to throw me into complete culture shock. Though, I guess, I've already lived close enough to neighbors to hear them having sex and been woken up by their door slamming. I've shared laundry facilities. It can't be THAT much different, living in an apartment.

So today's goal is: No panicking. And today's mantra is: Go beyond the fear.

Last night I got to attend my sister's last birthing class. I learned a lot and have more to say on it but for now I will just say to the lady who was farting incessantly in the class- I get that you are pregnant and everything but really. . . Must you? I swear pregnant ladies get away with everything. ;)

It's the universe's way of getting all the crap out of the way before the good stuff starts (the panic, not the farting). ;-)

feel the fear and do it anyway... it's the name of one of them self-help books, sure, but it's still good advice...

Don't let the crunch get to you! Find the right place, not the "good enough" place

(easier said than done, I know, but it's all I got)

Good luck!

If you don't find a place to your liking on this trip why not sign a 6 month lease? Keep it short and that way you can continue your search as you learn the city better and find the sort of place you really want to call home. Buy yourself some time.

You are a far stronger person than I; I would have freaked once the pregnant woman started farting. I guess one too many Monk episodes for me.

How about instead of being so against apartment living and how you have never done it, you look at it as an adventure like moving to New York... or even better MELROSE PLACE! Neighbors in a new city can be friends and who in a new city doesn't need friends? You won't make them if you are living out in the country by yourself...

I can't believe every single person didn't say the same thing.

First, of course, Good Luck! You will find the right place. Remain calm and keep looking. It will work out. (Okay, everybody did pretty much say that.)

And the second thing? Just you wait, Ms Sizz. Someday you will remember even lightly making fun of the farting pregnant lady, and it will all come back to you when you are one. I guess you know this already. But trust me. She can't help it. Some things get way beyond your control when you're pregnant. Like the farting.
