Ringing in My Jesus Year

I am so touched that so many of you took time out of your day yesterday to pop on over to Sizzle Says and send me birthday wishes. Way to make a girl feel loved! The e-greetings, gifts, cards, and phone calls really made my day extra special. Thank you isn't big enough but it's all I have.

Out of the seven singing birthday calls I received yesterday, not one sang to me the same. Everyone has their own special way of singing, not just tone and pitch- I'm talking the words. It was awesome! And now, those of you who have not yet been subjected to my rendition, prepare yourself for its coming on your birthday.

Here is how I celebrated my birthday. . .

Yesterday began with flowers on my car from Supple. What a lovely way to begin a day. I met up with two of my favoritest people on earth- Ama and Bird- for breakfast at The Silver Spur. It is one of our favorite early morning places to dine. Mmmm biscuits! (Thanks for the breakfast and the good company!)

Then darling Dumpling stopped by my work to bring me a bouquet of beautiful flowers. Awww. I hauled him along with me to look at eye glass frames. Instead of finding a new pair, we hammed it up for the camera as we are wont to do when we hang out. He had to go to work so I was left to fend for myself. Boo hoo.

Mid-afternoon I got a fabulous massage from the one and only Fawna Moon. During the massage, after I had flipped onto my back, I asked for an eye pillow to block out the light. She rustled around for one but ended up putting something altogether different over my eyes. . . an unused (mind you!) maxi pad- the hippy kind that are re-usable and made of cloth. I figured it out as it would only sit askew on my face like a sad, fake mustache that has lost its glue. We had a big laugh about that.

Later that night I met up with my gang of friends to dine at one of my favorite restaurants, The Malabar. It is a Sri Lankan restaurant that serves all organic vegetarian food. While I am not a vegetarian anymore, the pan, salad rolls, and gado tumis are deee-licious and I never pass up an opportunity to eat there. Not even the sight of this pre-meal appetizer could dissuade my hunger. Care Bear tat & g-string tan line? Blech.

Thanks for dinner Supple, Meagan, Mike and Jen Jen. (And yes Kevin, I am again holding the camera for this shot. I like to show off my shoulder.)

Here's to being 33. May it kick some serious assss.

Sizz- not only did Jesus die, but he again rose from the dead... is that not the reason I decapitated many a chocolate bunny this last weekend?

I am soooo very glad that you had an awesome day... you soooo very deserve it!!!

So glad to hear you had such a love-filled special day. I had a feeling you might...

So if this is your jesus year, does that mean you get a rebirthday too? If it's going to be celebrated properly, we'll all need to know when that is.

Hey and I'm 37 -- I'm realizing I overlooked my rebirthday entirely! Might have to make up for that now... ;)

Sizz- Every time you post something about your friends - esp. when there are pictures - I always think that your life looks like so much fun. You seem to have really great and caring friends. I'm glad you had such a great kick-off to your Jesus year!

p.s. I lovelovelove OCG's interpretation of the meaning behind God's giving of himself his only begotten son - chocolate bunny decapitation! ;-)

As much as I love you and hate that I wasn't with you, I can't imagine the pill I would've been had I been subjected to that restaurant! xox
