Early Signs of Alzheimers?

Today is a momentous day. Two fabulous people were born! Click on over and wish my friend Alissa and the talented Citizen Neil very happy birthdays. My blogging world would not be complete without a daily dose of either of them. In fact, I get to meet Alissa and Sandra (another fantastic blogger) this weekend. How excited am I? I have never met a blogger buddy in real life before.

If emailing my sister about going to see a concert tour that happened in 1998 wasn't proof enough, there is more evidence that I am losing it. Take this IM exchange for example...

sizzle: in other news: i rented a movie have seen before thinking it was new
sizzle: <--- brilliant
dumpling: nice. you are slowly going insane. how's that working out for you?
sizzle: LOL. what is sad is that you are right. i AM slowly going insane
sizzle: i am frightened.
hold me.
Please send the gingko, stat.

I still haven't changed my desk set up. I know, I know! What the hell am I doing all day? I investigated how the file cabinet was attached to the desktop and discovered it would take some brawn to move it. I might have grown up being the "boy" of my family and I might very well have unnatural strength for a woman who doesn't lift weights but I am still not tickled to have to heft that thing. But as you can see, something needs to be done (stat) because this is a set up for a worker's comp claim. No kidding.

Is it bugging you how I keep saying "stat" like I am a doctor?

Last night I watched that show, Miracle Workers, which wasn't entirely a horrible show. That is my glowing recommendation. I was particularly moved by the man who had been blind for 22 years after a severe allergic reaction to penicillin. I couldn't really watch when they showed the surgery. They were scrapping off the scar tissue on his eye. It makes my eyeballs hurt just thinking about it. And then they replaced his cornea with a new one (well, "gently used" as it was from a deceased person). He could see his wife and children for the first time ever. I couldn't help joking that if I were his wife and my husband was going to see me for the first time in our lives, I would have picked a different outfit and done something with my hair. But as they say, love is blind. (Ugh, I didn't just say that bad joke, did I?)

This is my thrilling, non-stop, action-packed life: watching a movie I had already seen, thinking Miracle Workers wasn't a horrible show, and yes, slowly going insane.

I saw the image and thought, "ohmigod, it's Sizzle's birthday too?!?!" Jeez what a busy day in the blogosphere.

Alas, you are just wishing both of them a happy birthday.

So how are you getting to meet Alissa and Sandra this weekend? They coming to you or you going to them?

My wrist hurts just looking at your keyboard set-up -- something MUST be done!!!

As for Miracle Workers, my roommate looked at me the other day and said thoughtfully, "you'd cry if you watched that". Which is not entirely untrue.

From reading your blog, I have discovered something new about you. You're always are the fashion critic. It wasn't a bad joke, it was great one!!! Love you M

Well, even if you are slowly going insane, you are still fabulous and funny!

I really, really wanted to be moved by that show. I was a little. I' glad that woman no longer suffers from back pain, and I'm glad the man is going to see again. Otherwise, meh.

Thanks for the birthday wishes Sizz! I have to say I'm equally excited to meet you this weekend.

I meant to TiVo Miracle Workers last night and totally forgot! Darn it. Glad to hear I didn't miss much more than a blind man seeing for the first time in 22 years :)

more fuel for the "slowly going insane" fire: i sent my tax return without the proper label on it which was then returned to me. i had already discarded the booklet so i had to look up the address... and adhere more postage.

nuts i tell ya!

;) sizz

your desk setup is seriously janky...

I hadn't realized...

Looks like you need a little more than duct tape.

Yes, I did tell Sandra that she would cry if she watched Miracle Workers. It sounds well, like a show any woman should stay away from if they are PMSing. :) Maybe I'll get to meet you this weekend too...not sure what Alissa and Sandra planned with you but I have tagging along rights because I know them. :)

Your keyboard set up looks to me like a hanger for alien space craft. In fact, I'm sure I've seen that keyboard used as a ship in one of the Star Trek series.

I wouldn't worry about the memory thing. It's nothing compared to mine. (I'm always finding clothes I forgot I was cleaning all twisted and dry in the washing machine. I don't remember I'm doing laundry till two days later.

But no one really cares about memory. We're all mad as hatters anyway. C'est la vie.

Okay - here's an excellent example of my brain ... I was pissed off this morning because although I had loaded the dishwasher, I had forgotten to turn it on!

And then I forgot to turn it on again! Tonight, I realize I still hadn't turned it on and was pissed off once more. This time, I would turn it on ... and then I realized that I hadn't forgotten to turn it on the first time.

I was out of dishwasher cleaner. I had actually forgotten to buy it - despite two trips to the store with the intention of getting it.

So ... that's how my brain is. I'm willing to bet that at least your dishes are clean.
