Confessions of a Dork

Confession One: Until seeing Capote the other day, I had no knowledge that Breakfast at Tiffany's was written by Truman Capote. And I received a minor in Literature. Go figure.

Confession Two: Until about my late, late teens I thought the rhythm method was actually about the "rhythm" of the actual act of sex. What's this you tell me? It has to do with ovulation? Well I'll be! (Thanks Catholic school sex ed.)

Confession Three:
I have never seen Citizen Kane. Up until recently, I had it pegged for a western. Why? I. Have. No. Idea. Shocking, I know.

Confession Four: The other day I sent my sister an email saying, "Hey, we should totally go see this band when you visit in April!" and I sent her the link to their site. She wrote back, "Uh, are we going to be time traveling? Because that tour was in 1998." I looked. It said, plain as day, at the top of the page 1998. This was on the same day that I "discovered" a cheap shuttle that would take me and my crew of friends to all the wineries in Monterey and Carmel. I emailed it out and we all agreed it was a great idea. Yay for free wine and a designated driver! Until. Until Supple read the actual link and discovered that this too-good-to-be-true shuttle was a test run. It doesn't actually operate right now. Balls! I so should not be trusted with information on the internet. I clearly do not use it wisely.

Don't feel bad I only found out who Capote was when I read a film review. Would you like to borrow my copy of Citzen Kane?

I think Dork isn't quite the term you are looking for..LOL I JUST learned what it actually means last night...for me I was clueless.

I had Lutheran School sex ed, and until I was about 14 I thought that you could get pregnant by sitting next to a boy. Religious based sex ed is obviously effective.

I'm in the same boat as you on confessions 1 and 2. But I have seen Citizen Kane and it was good. A bit weird, but good. And I've never done confession 4. That's classic.

yah, I am just feeling more dull by the moment... I am toe to toe with you on all of these... and it wasn't until amanda's comment, and me looking up the definition of a "dork" that I even knew what that definition was.

Lord I need to go back to high school.

When I was in college my roommates and I were watching "White Nights" and I was like, "whatever happened to that guy? Did he ever make anything of himself?" "They were like ummmm... who? Baryshnikov?" Score.

We are, and Breakfast and Tiffanys is one of my favorite films, I had no idea Capote had anything to do with it.

We all have those days. I call them brain farts. As Kevin said "We are all in the same boat, I too didn't know Capote wrote"Breakfast At Tiffany's" and I went there when I was in New York.

Don't forget that the character of Dill in To Kill a Mockinbird is based on Capote. (I have a thing for southern literature.)

I used to think that the drink "Cafe Au Lait" (the french term for coffee with milk) was pronounced and spelled "Cafe Ole" and that it was a Spanish drink.

I also have Citizen Kane and would be happy to watch it with you.

Seriously.

I laughed so hard at my desk.

I have no idea why.

Other than this whole thing was hilarious.

Especially after Daphne told you the concert was in 1998.

HA HA HA HA

I can't stop!

I had no idea that Capote wrote Breakfast at Tiffany's.

I have a confession of my own: I always thought that getting your tires rotated just meant spinning them around the axis they were already on. I never understood why it was important since they must rotate a billion times when I'm driving. Yeah, I'm a dork too.

I just realized that Big Bird is, in fact, not a real bird. On top of that, I found out that Spanish Flies,...not really flies.

I was an English major in college (which I'm sure you couldn't have guessed by my disgusting grammatical errors) and the only reason I know Capote was because I used to watch "In Cold Blood" as a child and freak myself out.

i love you guys. you make me feel less dorky.

i don't know if that was what you were going for but that's what you got!

I always thought I was a dork because I did know he wrote Breakfast at Tiffany's. I mean, who but a dork would know that?

I also also figured I was a dork because for ages I had no idea what the OC meant. Occupational Consultant? Who wants to watch a show about that? I thought, what the hell's an OC?

My favourite brain fart though was a conversation I had in an elevator going up to the 22nd floor with a woman who clearly knew me, my name, what I did at the office, yet to this day I couldn't tell you who she is. Who was she? I dunno.

I know nothing about Capote. I've haven't seen Citizen Kane either. And I did know what the "rhythm method" was. So much for public school education. :)

I had no idea that was the original meaning of dork! That cracks me up! Thanks OC!

I never payed that much attention to the ovulation parts of sex ed. Rhythm Method was unknown to me as well...But it was on purpose so it doesn't count!

Anonymous said...

shame shame, but of course you know what they call women who use the rhythm method, right?
