Pop Stars in the Making

I'm not a reality TV junkie. Not a TV junkie really at all. Ok, so I don't like to miss The Office or ER or Scrubs and sometimes you can find me zoned out watching repeats of Law & Order: SVU or Dawson's Creek. It happens. I admit it.

But tonight is one show I do not miss. It pains me if I miss an episode. It's like that. And yeah, maybe that makes me just a tad pathetic. That's ok though. . . I have lots of stuff going for me. I can take this one blemish.

I am an American Idol fan.

I chalk it up to my long-harbored dream of being a singer. From the time I could walk I was entertaining- at the local pizza joint to songs on the jukebox to my awkward pre-teen years putting on shows with friends for family- I wanted to perform. I never had the guts to get out there and do it. But each Tuesday night, I can live vicariously through the young hopefuls on American Idol. The embarassing auditions are just a bonus to the weeks of watching talented singers find their niche and shine. Please, don't mind Supple and I while we belt out cheesy songs along with them, much to the chagrin of JB, Mikey and Meagan.

So tonight, don't call me between the hours of 8-10pm. I'll be busy.

I am an AI fan too. It airs here too so I am psyched!

I wonder how many contestants will have former crime records this time?

I'm going to forget this admission and move on to more important things: When are we going to karaoke?

I think this has more to do with me playing RUSH RUSH over and over in your car when we were dating... you closeted Paula Abdul fan!

I feel like I should like this show. I never watch but then I feel left out when in the last few weeks it's all anyone talks about and all I can say is "which one is Clay again?"

i love american idol and can't wait for the bad singing. i so loved rush, rush with paula too. maybe it was because keanu reeves in the video....

I just got yelled at for "spreading lies"... but I am not telling lies and yes, she did justify liking the song because Keaneau was in the video!

We would drive around in her mustang listening to it... then according to her 100 things meme, have loads of sex!!

Ah... the memories...

yes, i yelled. over an IM. (as if!)

and, for the record, anyone who knows me would never believe i would use keanu as a means to justify anything except my headache after having to suffer through the torture that is his limited acting ability.

after all that sex, i thought you'd know me better Tomato.

I made a promise to someone that i wouldn't watch it this year. I am trying to figure out how to break that promise withouthim finding out, despite the fact that we share a dwelling.

You would love Canada. We get American Idol and then we get Canadian Idol. They've probably got a Japanese Idol, Korean Idol and Italian Idol too. Maybe you should get a satellite dish? :-)

(And what? Keanu "I only have one facial expression" Reeves can't act?)

I haven't decided if I'm going to watch this year or not. I do love Paula though...

I was in the grocery store last night and there was a girl with her younger sister, they were speeding down the aisles like mad women and when I met them in the cheese department and she noticed me she said to her sister "ok, we have to get this and some deli meat and then we have to get home in time for American Idol!"

I chuckled, smiled, and thought of you. Hope it was as good as you anticipated!
