- I relocated from sunny, beachy California to the Emerald City because I heard that every new resident got a pair of ruby shoes. (Someone lied!) (Okay, I’m gullible.) A non-profit event planner by day and an apartment manager by night, I spend my free time blogging about my neurosis (fine, neuroses because yes they are plentiful), being crafty, pretending I’m the next American Idol, and searching for a decent taco in a town that boasts of teriyaki joints on every corner.

I have to agree with Inky. Love and a significant other is the icing on top of the cake. Just keep in mind there are all types love.
I agree with the statment. When else do you put all of yourself out there? It's an adventure that reaches all ends of your being. I can't think of anything that has the same effect, and I agree with mikey - there are many different forms of love.

Good point Sizz! She never did state "Romantic", but that is what most would assume...hell I did and do. But I do not agree with the statement. Love is a great adventure of course, but it isn't the only great adventure. A friendship can be a great adventure - we put ourselves out there more with our friends sometimes more than we do with our partners. I could go on and on and on but I will spare you! ;)
You aren't really living if love isn't involved on some level.
I don't know if that is what she means, but when I use the word, I'm generally talking about all kinds of things.If she is only talking about romantic love, she's just totally wrong.It almost sounds like one of those things people say sometimes just for effect.
This seems an opportunity to throw in some words from the movie Don Juan deMarco:
"There are only four questions of value in life, Don Octavio. What is sacred? Of what is the spirit made? What is worth living for, and what is worth dying for? The answer to each is the same: only love."
If we love ourselves enough we will trust ourselves to let go and experience our own adventures...

I must whole-heartedly agree.
Love in all of its forms is indeed a true adventure. How else can one truly know oneself if one does not stretch from within? If one does not see where boundaries lie - within oneself and with others?
Romantics, athletes, explorers, travelers, politicians, scientists, writers, artists, atheists, believers, dreamers, doers...
We are adventurers all.
I agree. No discussion needed. There are lots of adventurous things out there...but the only true adventure? Absolutely.

It's too bad (romantic love) that it isn't always a "choose your own adventure", like those fun books from way back when. Because I've definitely loved some people who...were probably not the best for me!

when i read the quote, i didn't assume romantic love. love of family, children, friends, food, adventure. there is so much to love and so much to explore.
