Aquarium Adventure

Mr. Rodacre, Mikey, Meagan and I borrowed my Mom's Monterey Bay Aquarium passes and spent Saturday exploring the wonders of the sea.

My favorite were the jellies. Some of them were so tiny! I wanted to just watch them float for hours but there was too much to see. Some of them resemble parachutes or parasols, the tentacles drifting behind them as if caught in a light breeze. There were others that appeared as if electrically charged or prisms of color. Some of them where brilliant colors. I once saw a huge jelly while kayaking in the Puget Sound. It looked like a fried egg. There were some of those at the Aquarium but I didn't get a picture.

The sardines where in a circular tank, swimming round and round and round. Mr. Rodacre got a bit dizzy. They do go quite fast. We also saw sea otters that, oddly enough, reminded me of my kittens. They were wrestling and biting one another- very similar to my cat's shinanigans around daybreak each day. Sadly, the penguins weren't available for viewing.

Some of the sea anemones look like dahlias (my favorite flower). But then others look like cat butts. Ok, gross, I know. And trust me, you don't want to google "cat butt images" because. . .just because.

Then we made fish tacos at my Mom's house. Yeah, we know. We spent the day looking at fish and then we ate them. But they were damn good!

Suddenly, I'm thinking sushi tonight ...

(I'll never be able to look at my cat's butt the same way again. Not that I spend a lot of time looking at here butt ...)

Ha! Googling cat butt images! It just cracks me up. I'm not really sure why. Maybe it has something to do with my cat promptly sticking her butt in my face at 5am every morning. Hmm...

My 3-year-old great-niece made the dreadful connection between the fish at the aquarium and the fish sticks she insisted upon eating for dinner. After closely pondering her dinner that night, she abruptly decided she was over it and chowed down. Oh, to be 3 again!
