Enter to Win

Halloween is fast approaching and I have no idea what to dress up as. I know I am 32 and maybe I should have long since given up on the whole notion of a costume. But I love Halloween! My mom would make the best costumes and my childhood is filled with fond memories of carving pumpkins and trick or treating.

I have friends who are great at dressing up. Eric even wins contests with his amazing costumes. I am no stranger to putting on a wig. I have three wigs and eight boas in my closet. Maybe I should have been born a drag queen?

I love any occasion that requires a costume. I dressed up as the Tattooed Lady at the Tomato's 30th birthday circus bash. I loved that costume. I got the idea off a Bonny Doon Vineyard wine label. One year I was Miss Piggy. That costume was perfect for me because it gave me an excuse to unleash my inner Diva. Moi? Over the years, I've been a mouse, a fairy, a punk rock angel, an alien superhero and a dead witch (to name a few).

This year, with my mind drawing blanks, I need your creativity and assistance. What should I be for Halloween? The winning suggestion will get a fabulous package of Sizzle Stuff mailed to them. Prizes! Bribes! Whatever you want to call it- help me come up with a wickedly cool costume.

Entries now being accepted.

Hmmm... Let's see. There's always the she devil, or a vampress. But those aren't very original, are they?

I once saw a great costume at a party. Someone put a fully set table on their shoulders and their head was the centerpiece. They had a halo of flowers on top of their head. There was the traditional red and white checkered tablecloth. It was hysterical. Not quite sure how they did it though.

One of my own favorite costumes was Dr. Pepper. I wore scrubs, a lab coat, and my stethoscope (not too difficult as I once was an LVN in a past life). Then I pinned plastic peppers all over the lab coat. That was pretty funny.

This year I'll probably be the queen of hearts. I have had a great costume for the last couple of years that needs to see the light of day. However, I don't know anyone who has parties anymore. It's so sad. Halloween is awesome. Alas, I dress up just for the sake of dressing up.

Oh, and once I was a green M&M. Not a good idea at a party with a lot of drunk, horny guys! :)

Well, I started to leave a comment but it got a little long... so I left it as a post on my blog. Sorry. If you want to hear my response, that's where it will be. Thanks for the inspiration btw.

Let me leave you with this first...

Do I like Halloween?

Oh, I almost forgot... Great Costume pics! You looked just like the real miss piggy there! This year you should be...

... Let me get back to you on this.

I am having the same dilemma right now. Last year my best friend and I went as Double Dare contestants (complete with physical challenges for the night) and we were a huge hit. I don't know how to live up to it.

I might steal Dairy Queen.

i'm having the same problem with a costume decision as well. i have friends that try to be sexy every year and that makes me want to vomit (i'm jealous).
last year i was pregnant so i went as sharon osbourne, pre lipo.. i also had an 80's party (before getting preggo) and was a prince protege'. it's amazing what you can cover with a major layer of lace.
if i think of anything else, i'll send these ideas to you....

love the tattooed lady by the way...

You are just so pretty and sexy that you don't want to cover up any of that - but play on it. I think you should be one of the old screen actresses all vamped up. Kind of like the tattood lady, but with the long cigarette holder and all slinky and sultry. You just fit the role so well! Mae West comes to mind - she was no "skinny bitch", but had a mind of her own and a great racous personality that would let her humor and sexiness shine through. That's who I can see you being. Just need a blonde wig... ;)

the past couple of years, i have been tippi hedren from the birds. all you need is a blue skirt and top, a blond wig, fake black birds and blood. then tear up your outfit, attach the birds to your hair, and put blood all over. it always seems to be a hit...i will send you a photo.

i can't wait to see what you decide on! :)

Best costume I ever saw was a a dude in a red shirt Star Trek uniform with burn marks, arrows stickin' in him and gunshot wounds. He was going as every redshirt Ensign that Capt. James T. Kirk got bumped off within the first three minutes of the episode...

in college, i went as a blue crayon and dyed my hair the matching blue; another year, (I grew up in theatre) I went as igor, with so much stuff glued here and there that no one recognized me till the end of the night (and won at that contest); another year I went as a Hershey Kiss; another year, the green grape guy from Fruit of the Loom; I've always wanted to be a black widow spider....that'd be cool....You could be the Cat in the Hat....or the Pink Panther.....or a giant tampon with string ......I'm thinking, I'm thinking.....Halloween is my fav. holiday besides Groundhog's Day and my birthday :) or you could go as CARRIE (Sissy Spacek) with a bad prom dress and pig's blood (fake of course) poured over your head and boobs.

Halloween is my absolute favorite. Last year I was Mrs. Mia Wallace from Pulp Fiction. Complete with syringe sticking out of my black lace bra. Hot. I might do that again this year, just cause I lack time, energy, and creativity!

I don't know what to tell you except go with something you like as opposed to what someone else might like. Go with something that makes you feel good. I like Sue's idea about old classic stars, but then I also love old movies.

Right now I'm watching old Greta Garbo movies - one of those would be good. Or Myrna Loy from one of the Thin Man movies - assuming you could track down the clothes.

If it were me, I'd be thinking of dressing up like William Powell in My Man Godfrey. The question would be, William Powell as homeless man or as butler? (I'm a geek for old movies.)

Loved the Tattooed Lady, by the way.

That Tattooed Lady was sure a hit. It cost a lot to buy all those fake tattoos but it landed me a boyfriend the night I wore it. (Because as my mother said, "No wonder he noticed you, running around in your underwear like that!" Oh mom- hee hee.)

You've ignited my creative brain and I have multiple ideas. Thanks! The winner will be notified by email and the BIG REVEAL (it's like a make over show and you know how I love those!) will happen on Halloween Weekend.

:) Sizz

Wait! I didn't give you an idea yet!

Ok, you could go as...A big tooth...wraped in dental floss!

Ok, I couldn't really think of anything. Congrats to the winner.

To be fair, the contest isn't OVER yet. I will leave it open for entries until October 8th. But by then I need to get to work gathering my costume bits and such.

So, October 8th. Email me your entries. Win big prizes.

Ok, that's it for now.

A passing notion ... You may want to consider going as Carmen Miranda, "the Brazilian bombshell!"

Well, it's a thought.

I posted this year's entry on my website:
www.styrofoamkitty.com

second-place winner is The King from Katamari Damacy. You have to have a diminutive friend dress up as the Prince, though. if you do not play videogames, I hereby withdraw this suggestion as it is impossibly geeky.

how about this?

Bette Davis in "WHATEVER HAPPENED TO BABY JANE?"

or

Joan Crawford in "MOMMIE DEAREST" and carry around a wire hanger and have baby powder on your face :)
