Ms. Handy

I did it!

I assembled a piece of furniture from start to finish. Without leaving pieces off or putting anything on the wrong way. Without having to use a sharpie to color in my mistake. Without the aid of a man. Sure, it took me a good two hours but look what I have accomplished. Finally, a place to put my books.

My mom, the ever-generous person, took me on a Target shopping spree. Oh how I love Target. We spent a couple of hours filling up two carts worth of goodies. And as you can (kind of) see by this photo, I have another piece of furniture to put together- a TV stand. And wouldn't you know it? Right when I am all ready to watch a dvd, my dvd player breaks. Guess I will be going back to Target. (Oh, twist my arm.)

Now if I could just muster the courage to drill holes in my walls for hanging pictures, I'd be a decorating machine.

Today marks the kick off of Anticipation Week, Take 1. My beloved Jenny Two Times will grace the Emerald City with her presence for three nights starting Friday. Yay! I cannot wait. I miss her something fierce. And we have lots to see and do and catch up on.

But before the revelry begins, I have an apartment to clean, curtains to sew, a TV stand to put together, laundry to do, and oh yeah - I've got to go to work. Have I told you guys lately that I really like living here? This new life business. . . it's not so bad.

Sounds like things are going well in all life facets. I'm so happy that you're liking the new life!

I love that bookcase. I want a new one because the two we have are overflowing, so I may have to go look at that one.

That is very impressive, Ms. Sizzle! Geez, it took me three hours to put together my computer desk I got for Christmas. And we won't even talk about how long it took me to put a CD player in my truck that one time.

Yay! I always knew you could put together furniture on your own! Your apartment really is beginning to look like home!

Hehe. Congrats on the furniture. I'm a scratcher myself, so I can relate to how hard it is to get it all put together. And, it also took me seven months to drill my holes -- I just didn't want to "ruin" the paint:)

Target is awesome. When I hang pictures I grab a roll of butcher paper and trace outlines of my frames and then cut them out. I tape up the bits of butcher paper where I want my pictures and then space, level and nail through the paper. Rip the paper off the nails, slap that picture up and viole! Everything is done with no extra holes.

a little level is handy when you're hanging pictures by yourself, but it sounds like Melissa has it down to a fine science.

Glad to hear things are going so well. Congrats on the good-lookin' shelf.

Look at you, Ms. Tool Time! Fantastic shelves. I'm gonna hire you to decorate my place and put furniture together.

So glad you're slipping nicely into the Seattle groove. I'm jealous. You get to be near you all the time. :)
