Don't Be Such a Bore

This might sound odd but I am looking forward to working again.

Tomorrow will mark 3 weeks since I've been employed. Many would be relishing in this time off, but me? I sit here anxiously awaiting the arrival of the daily grind back into my life. I think it will help me realize that I live here when I actually work here. Not having a purpose other than decorating my house and taking walks is getting old. But then, I've always been somewhat of a workaholic. And we all know that I am horrible at relaxing.

I try to relax. Really! I do! But I fail miserably most of the time. My feelings of loneliness coupled with my lack of routine exacerbate my feelings of isolation and boredom. A job isn't a cure-all but it is a start. I can meet people. Have conversations in person. (Though, chatting buddies? Thanks for keeping me company.) I can have something to say other than what happened on TV. I do so hate to be a bore.

I have a second interview this week at an organization that does really good work. There are actually two jobs open there and they are considering me for both. Today, I have an interview where I also am being considered for two positions. Tomorrow I have another interview at a women's organization. My fingers are crossed that I will have secured a job by the week's end.

I just hope I can invigorate myself. Sitting here right now, I feel a bit dull and lackluster. I feel so blah. That's it, I've got the blahs. What is your cure for shaking off the blahs?

Shopping. Or sex. Lots of shopping these days...

I understand what you mean about work. Before I got this gig I was unemployed for several months - I've never been so depressed.

Chin up, chica, gainful employment is on the way.

Best of luck on the interviews - that's awesome that you have some really solid prospects this quickly! You're a supa-star!

As for the blahs, I usually spend the day in a cemetery taking pictures and eating salty licorice, but that's just me. ;)

There's a cure for the blahs?

I find alcohol works wonders.

And the quality people that you meet in a bar... priceless.

I like to take a shower and get all dollled up. If that doesn't work, then a trip to the craft store does the trick usually. I feel much better when I'm creating something. Good luck with the interviews and with getting rid of the blahs!

I'd tell you to explore the city naked but then you'd probably tell me you're just going to wear a hat instead.

Blahs? Sunshine, maybe. Preferably on a beach. With a maitai.
I understand having to work though, I'm the same way. The harder you work, the better it feels when it's time to play.

I usually go to a movie. A movie that helps change my perspective on things... or if that's not available, one that has lots of spaceships, car chases and explosions.

And then take myself out to a nice dinner(Sushi perhaps?) and read a periodical.

Okay so I guess I basically take myself out on a date... fortunately, I know I'll always end up at my place and that I will put out.

Shaking off the blahs? Today I turned 39. I spent the day alone pampering myself: manicure and pedicure in a pretty purple....it always brightens me up. Birthdays or no birthdays.

I go for a long walk listening to good music, eat some McDonald's with wine and then bunker down for some good daytime TV!

Good luck on your interviews, I know you'll do great!

I know what you mean more than a bit! I have two months off in the summer and I feel like such a slug. It's worse because I know there are things I could be doing at work! I'm crossing my fingers for your interviews!

coming off of my work tour of duty, my mantra is "working is highly overrated!"

good luck with the interviews!

The Blahs are why there are ten seasons of Friends on DVD.

Then there's always sleep.
