ONE MORE DAY (cue the music)

The Brunch was fantastic. It was filled with yummy food, fabulous friends and lots of laughter. My friends and family crack me up. My preggers sister and my wonderful mom cooked up a feast- along with the traditional lamb cake (no it is not made of actual lamb) and my favorite, Gramma Cake. It's my great- grandmother's recipe. A birthday isn't really a birthday without it in my family. It's an acquired taste but I l-o-v-e it.

Another tradition at my birthday celebrations is Bird's annual "Tell Sizzle Why You Love Her" which is torture for some and enjoyable for others. Namely Bird. She goes first and most of the time says a lot of the things everyone else wanted to say so they end up feeling like saying "ditto." I have come to really appreciate this ritual because it makes me sit still and truly listen to why I am loved. This isn't easy to do! And yes, I crack jokes to deflect but I am getting better at it. I think . . .I walked away from this year's ritual feeling very loved. The theme seemed to be "inspiration."

Don't you love my bunny ears? So appropriate. Much more so than a crown. ;)

Thank you Mom, Doke, Dumpling, Supple, JB, Bird & Ama, M & M, Marnacakes and Mateo for making birthday so special. I found my smile and it is all because of you.

P.S. Dumpling? Memory foam pillow is the bomb!

My family does the "same something nice about the birthday girl" too! We ususally all end up in tears, but it's one of my favorite traditions.

I'm glad you had such a great weekend Sizz! Your sister looks A-D-O-R-A-B-L-E. All glowy and shit :)

Happy Easter (despite being a day late).

Wow! No question you two are sisters!

I gotta ask, do you always take self portraits? Is that why you always seem to have a shoulder reaalll close to the camera?

Your sister looks just like you. Except she doesn't have bunny ears.

As sad as I am about missing the cake, I am most sad about missing all of the beautiful Jones laughter...

That is such a great picture. Glad to hear you had a great weekend. You'll have to tell us what makes the Gramma cake an aquired taste. I'm very curious now.

That's a really nice game you guys play. I would rather have genuine compliments than material possessions.

Happy Birthday, Sizzle. Cut a slice for me.

alissa- of course it would be that we have the same birthday tradition. that's in keeping with our soul internet sistah thing. ;) and yes, my sis is all glowy and adorable.

sue- steal it! it's great!

kevin- yes, i take a lot of self-portraits. it's a thing we do. ha ha.

gary- yes people always asked if we were twins growing up. there is actually 21 months difference between our ages.

tomato- no doubt the laughter would have been increased with you around. we love you!

mrs. ca- it involves the ingredients. many are turned off hearing crisco is a large part of what makes the frosting.

anthony- same here. :)

You can be quite sure that come June I will be forcing my loved ones to wax poetic about my many amazing qualities! I'm guessing that we have a similar type of cake (we call it dream cake) as it is made up of mostly crisco and confectioner sugar... yum!

Love the ears! That's a great pic.

I've also been meaning to thank you. Your bday countdown lined up nicely as a reminder of when I needed to buy some more cellphone minutes so the ones I had wouldn't expire. Thanks! :)

I'm not certain (because my brain isn't always the most accurate) but if I'm correct it's about 19 minutes into your birthday at the time I write this so, let me be the first on the blog to say - Hapyy Birthday!!!
