Gone Away Is the Bluebird
It isn't a holiday with my family unless there is a board game involved. Last night, the game was Cranium.
The stakes were high as it was girls against boys. Dokey and I, being sisters with our own unique ESP, thought we had it in the bag. I tried to channel JB when it came time to spell words backwards (he is the Master of that). We ruled at the Humdingers. Who knew my love of Barry Manilow would come in handy someday? But then it came time to sculpt. . .
Dokey molded a person out of sticky purple clay as I yelled out guesses. "It's a man!" "It's a statue!" Then, as she added an adornment to the neck of the clay man I changed tactics. "It's a bow tie!" "It's a waiter!" "It's a scarf!" "It's a snowman!" "It's cancer of the throat!"
Woah. Wha?!
Yeah, you read that right. Where in the hell did I get that from? Your guess is as good as mine. Dokey looked incredulously at me as the rest of us broke out in a fit of laughter. Needless to say, we didn't win that one. It was a "thing" and that "thing" was a "necklace." Balls! So close!
It's raining here. Surprise, surprise. That means that I have four of my favorite things in the universe right now: rain, my family, my best friend, and time off. The flight here was a breeze. Who knew the trick to holiday travel was traveling ON the actual holiDAY. Other than the incredibly broad shouldered man with ginormous eye glasses (like that kid in Jerry McGuire) taking up more than his share of the armrest (ok , I am being kind, he was halfway into my seat!) making me feel crooked on my right side for most of yesterday, the flight was good. One of the security guards was even singing "Winter Wonderland" which made all the holiday travelers smile and be neighborly. I still do not understand why, if they make us all take our shoes off at the security check point, why oh why don't they have a place for us to put our shoes back on? This seems like a huge oversight and I think I might just have to write a letter to someone important and tell them what I think of it.
I'll get to it right after I go see The Squid and the Whale.

I love Seattle! I miss being there. I love all of the rain. Although, it's been raining here too. :)
I'm glad you had a good day yesterday. You deserve it! Enjoy your friends and family!
Oooo... I so want to know how "The Squid and the Whale" is! You'll have to let me know.
So glad you're having a good time!
Whatever you do, don't go kayaking on that Inependence Lake or Consitiution Lake or whatever it's called. The damn water planes will land on your head. And other boats will cut you off. I damn near crapped my pants out there. Got wet too.
(What is that lake called anyway?)
Your Sculpt fiasco sounds just like the infamous "Baby fish mouth scene" in 'When Harry Met Sally'! I wish you had a pic of the figurine that inspired you to blurt out 'Throat cancer!"
Curious to see what you thought of 'The Squid and the Whale.' Personally, I liked, didn't love. Although Kevin Kline's kid was a revelation.
Yay! So happy to hear your holiday is giving you what you need. Seriously, Ms. Sizz, throat cancer?
First of all, I LOVE Cranium and you are SO being on my team.
Second of all...are those all albums behind you in those pictures? I bet on my LIFE there are some Beatles albums in there. Rubber Soul maybe...hhhmmmmm????
Thirdly...I have not heard of The Squid and the Whale but am now very interested and will not sleep until I know when and where it is playing...yea, because I needed something else to be obsessed with...lol!
Fourth...could you be any CUTER!? I love the way you look when you're laughing. I bet you have the best laugh EVER!
