No, Seriously

There is no such thing as a free lunch.

This said by the girl who, after eating a massive chicken burrito at a local eatery, had the misfortune of sitting beneath the air conditioner which, as she reapplied lip gloss, emptied its watery contents all along her back.

I am not kidding.

I quickly rose from my chair once I realized it was not my friend Susan playing a silly prank on me and pouring water down my back. She jumped up too after she realized that, no, I was not spitting on her. By the time the leak stopped, the chair I had occupied for one and half hours was soaked. Classy.

We, and by that I mean, me and my 12 or so coworkers, were treated to lunch as a way of saying, "Hey, you're swell. Thanks for all you do." Of course, some of us chose to order the most expensive items on the menu. Why? Because it was free gosh darnit!

Over the course of the meal, I learned some fascinatingly weird things about some of my fellow bleeding hearts. The best tidbit being: one of my coworkers was so distraught over the death of her beloved cat, she curled him up in his cat bed and put him in the freezer.

For three months.

I am not kidding.

Let me reiterate: The cat died. She put him in his bed and then put him in the freezer. And he resided in the freezer for three months. Dead. Frozen. Cat.

Please tell me I am not the only one who thinks this is extremely odd behavior.

my mother once kept her dead bird in the freezer for three months, waiting for a time when the whole family would be together so we could have a proper funeral. but a cat? now that's just wierd.

This is weirdness, I agree. Kind of along the lines of what Jules posted, our vet has a special freezer that she will keep your dead pet in if it dies in the wintertime and you want to bury it when the ground thaws. She did that for one of our cats that died a few years ago. She puts them in a nice little styrofoam box and it's all taped shut. We took her out in the spring and buried her and there was no smell or anything. I'm not sure it even had time to thaw. I don't believe I would put anything like that in my OWN freezer where it would be with my food, however. I don't think that would be very sanitary. I love my pets, but that's taking it a bit toooo far!
