This, That and the Other

Sizzle Secret #26: I love to get mail. Email is good but old fashioned (when did it become so retro?) letters and cards really are my favorite. Yesterday, I arrived home to a hand-addressed envelope. My darling little sister had sent me mail! She is the cutest. Inside was a polaroid of her holding a dainty cupcake and underneath was written "babycakes". Attached to it was a button that says "ask me about my cupcakes". I love it! And I love her and I love cupcakes but, of course, not in equal measure. You win over baked goods every time sweet sis.

Speaking of baked goods, I will be baking my ass off tomorrow. I didn't solicit enough donations for the drag show event tomorrow night (we are in charge of concessions) so in an effort to not have slim pickings, I will be making rice krispie treats, brownies and of course, the ever-loving cupcake. This time though, I will leave off the sex words. Boo, no fun!

Speaking of "boo", yesterday my boss comes to me seeking inspiration. This happens pretty much daily. Sometimes I mind it and other times, he catches me in the right mood. We do an impromptu brainstorm, throwing phrases and words back and forth at one another until something catches. We were trying to come up with a better name for a Halloween event that we are planning. Somebody wanted to call it "Paper Faces on Parade" but all that did was inspire some of us (ahem) to run around calling it "P-Fop". Then they were calling it "Halloween Masquerade Ball" but that doesn't work either because, well, it is just such an obvious (and borrrr-ing) title. So as we are slinging ideas at each other I say, "Well, it isn't really a ball per se. I hate when I say "per se". It sounds so pretentious. *Sigh* Anyhow, it is more like a bash. Hmmm. Halloween Bash. Monster Mash. Boo Bash!" And then I started laughing hysterically and almost fell out of my chair. Almost. Boo Bash. Ha.

I think that could be categorized as a Babyfishmouth Moment. Don't you agree? Apparently, it is sweeping the nation.

Speaking of babyfishmouth, the other night Mikey and Meagan and I were watching the Gilmore Girls. Why? Because it is what we do. Dash, the crazy lovebug kitten climbs onto Meagan's lap and promptly sprawls his body across her legs. He is a very presumptuos kitty. He is wrestling with her hand and she goes to rub her nose and in the process smells her hand and says, "Oh Dash has babyfishmouth." Good spin on that old favorite Meagan. Props!

Sizzle Secret #31: I am also sometimes a bitch. My co-worker once asked me, "Has anyone ever told you that you remind them of Karen Walker?" Karen Walker, for those of you not in the know, is the pill popping drunk with the killer rack who says whatever is on her mind on Will & Grace. Case in point: "Your hair is such a disaster that even the Red Cross wouldn't give it coffee!" No one had, up until that moment, compared me with her. I am not sure if I should be flattered or miffed? I think I rather like that comparison.

Speaking of Will & Grace, did anyone catch it last night? They did a live season premiere. Live TV affords you the opportunity to slip certain no-no's by the network and censors. Alec Baldwin kissed Eric McCormick (Will) on the mouth- and it wasn't just a peck. Awesome! And Debra Messing (Grace) made a remark about George W. And it wasn't flattering. Awesome again! And Alec Baldwin later made a reference to Tom DeLay and helping him shred documents. I loved it.

But not as much as I love cupcakes.

Or my sister.

::shaking head:: nope. I refuse to believe it. Siz can't be a bitch. Just doesn't work. Oh, I'm not saying she can't be independent and strong willed and have a mind of her own and want her own way and can't play well with others...oops. That was me. At any rate, bitch? Just ain't buyin' it.

People tell me all the time that I remind them of Karen from Will&Grace. I wasn't sure if it was meant as a compliment or an insult but if you're in the same boat, it's definitely a compliment.

1) I love krispie treats

2) No sex words, Boo, no fun!

3) I think you should call the party "The P-Fop Halloween Boo Bash Masquerade", I can just hear it now; "Hey everyone... come and have... some fun at... the... P-Fop Halloween Boo Bash... Masquerade! or something like that.

4) I like it when you say 'per se'. You said it twice btw.

5) Ha! Babyfishmouth.

6) Karen Walker from Will and Grace?!! I love Karen Walker from Will and Grace!

7) Yes, I saw most of the Live Will and Grace last night... I was crackin up when she made the remark about G. Bush. They were so trying to not laugh, it was histerical.

8) I love cupcakes too, but not as much as...
...no I love cupcakes more (only if they have sex words on'um though).

You could say it was Hysterical or Historical too (the Will and Grace thing).

I suppose it depends on the event, but you could go with "Raising Hell." Then, next year, "Raising Hell II." So now you have something that can go on and on, and possibly lead to big money in DVD sales! (For the first time on DVD - "Raising Hell" with special behind the scene features never before seen!

Ok, ok so maybe "bitch" is a strong word. Here is what my mom had to say about that:

"You are Karen Walker in a good way. Your sexual innuendos, your love for the ‘gays’, and your sense of humor IS Karen. I don’t think she is a bitch at all and you certainly aren’t! But you can be ‘difficult’ (like Meg Ryan, When Harry met Sally)."

how about we all embrace our inner karen walker and tie one on, throw back a few pills and say what is REALLY on our mind? sounds fun!

thanks for all your suggestions on the event name. it is pretty much out of my hands but i will definitely pass on your suggestions.

I love cupcakes. Your sex words were hysterical! They cracked me up.

I vote for Boo Bash. That one is just too funny to pass up.

Karen Walker rocks. She is so funny. And she can so get away with being a bitch. I want to be Karen Walker, but alas, I don't have half her rack. :)

Have fun baking!

wow you and your sis look a lot alike. me and my sis don't even have the same mannerisms. we are polar opposites including personalities. i'm tall, she's short. i have long hair, she has short. i have dark brown hair, she has light. am glad you have a great relationship with her. i envy that.

I think there is *still* something going on with Mr. Rodacre and The Sizz. Oh, yes I do.

It's that whole friendship thing (with benefits) that are the best ones to marry, so THINK ABOUT IT.

And one a more related note - I love Karen Walker for her attitude and what she has to say, but can she lose the voice? I've heard that actess - that voice is as fake as it sounds. That part drives me nuts.
